Microsoft’s standard Lead Qualification tool does exactly one thing: it converts a Lead into an Account, Contact, and Opportunity. If your business sells the way Microsoft assumes every business sells, that’s perfect.
But plenty of businesses don’t track “Opportunities” at all. Law firms track Legal Cases. Event planners track Events. Wealth managers track Portfolios. Landscapers track Jobs. Consulting firms track Projects. If the thing you sell isn’t an Opportunity, Microsoft’s tool simply can’t create the record your business actually needs – and even if you do use Opportunities, the standard tool falls short the moment you need to capture custom qualification data, or if you’re on a Power Apps license that doesn’t include it at all.
Built around your process, not Microsoft’s
Our Lead Qualifier keeps the core idea – convert a Lead into the record your business needs – but makes every part of it configurable. We use Projects at P2 Automation. One client requires a Source Code to be captured and stamped on every qualified record, even though they use neither Opportunities nor Projects. Another needed the tool to work on a lower-cost Power Apps license where Microsoft’s version isn’t available at all. A fourth client has multiple qualification paths depending on lead type – some create Opportunities, some create Projects, and some just create an Account and Contact.
None of these are edge cases we bent over backwards for. They’re the normal range of how real businesses actually qualify leads – and it’s exactly why a one-size-fits-all tool leaves so many Dynamics 365 users qualifying leads by hand, in spreadsheets, outside the system entirely.
What gets built for you
When we build your Lead Qualifier, we start with a discovery session covering what gets created, what data transfers from the Lead, what questions need to be asked during qualification, who’s allowed to qualify a lead, and what should happen automatically afterward. It’s not a generic template with a few settings – it’s a workflow built around your actual sales process.
This wraps our six-week look at the P2 Control Layer
Over the past six weeks we’ve walked through the whole system: the Foundation tools included with every plan, View Scheduler delivering the information your team needs without anyone checking for it, Activity Center putting the full customer story in one place, P2 Tags and Send Wizard cutting out everyday busywork, and now Lead Qualifier fitting the front end of your sales process to how your business actually works.
If any piece of this sounds like something your team needs, the easiest next step is seeing it live.
