A large coffee & donut franchisee with many locations was tracking sales by having store managers prepare a daily spreadsheet they would send into franchise headquarters. This was fraught with errors, miscopying of data from individual sheets to summaries, and many of the other problems often encountered in such "guerrilla" processes.
P2 Automation used Microsoft Access to build a simple sales tracking entry program with a hosted SQL Server back-end. P2 also provided a link from the point-of-sale system in use at the store locations that fed directly into an Access-based reporting system, enabling managers to compare their sales to same-period-last-year, by day, week, month and year. For deeper analysis, managers can "drill down" into the data to uncover the details behind the trends.
